Hunter Mickelson closing in on blocked shot record

Arkansas split its week with a win over LSU, 69-60, on Saturday and a midweek loss to Ole Miss, 71-63, on Wednesday. Arkansas held Ole Miss without a three-point field goal and forced 23 turnovers by the Rebels, but could not overcome a large rebounding margin in the mid-week loss.

Senior Marvell Waithe led the Razorbacks with a career high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting including three from long range. The Razorbacks remained undefeated at Bud Walton Arena on Saturday with strong guard play that included 19 points from freshman BJ Young, 15 from junior Julysses Nobles and 14 from sophomore Mardracus Wade. Arkansas was also able to counter LSU's height advantage with good positioning and the freshman tandem of Devonta Abron and Hunter Mickelson combined to grab 17 rebounds and block seven shots.

Mickelson had all the blocks for the Razorbacks and moved into fourth on Arkansas' alltime list for blocks by a freshman with his 47 this year. He is 13 behind Oliver Miller for the school record. The Razorbacks travel to Lexington, Ky., on Tuesday to take on the second-ranked Wildcats before returning home to face Big 10 opponent and 13th-ranked Michigan at Bud Walton Arena on Saturday.
