Grandmother extradited back to Region 8

FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) - An Arkansas mother accused of taking her 3 month old granddaughter out of state without permission is back in Region 8 following her arrest in Texas.

According to the Forrest City Police Department, Carolyn Morris, 45, of Mesquite, Tex. was arrested in Texas and extradited back to Forrest City by the Forrest City Police Department.

Morris is charged with Interference with Custody, a felony, in connection with a January 7 incident where she allegedly took her granddaughter to Texas without the approval of the child's mother.

According to the police report, Morris was stopped by a police officer in Mesquite  as she was entering the city with the child. Morris was taken into custody and the mother picked up the child and brought her back to Forrest City.

Morris has been transported to the St. Francis County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, January 18.

Bond for Morris has been set at $10,000.
