Red Wolves throwers and vaulters return to action at John Craft Invitational

JONESBORO (ASU) – The Arkansas State weight throwers and pole vaulters returned to indoor track and field action Saturday at the John Craft Invitational at Eastern Illinois University.

Junior Julia Agawu took first in the women's weight throw and fourth in the women's shot put with throws of 18.33m and 13.50m respectively.

ASU also finished first, second, fourth and sixth in the men's shot put led by sophomores Richard Chavez and Chris Nicasio with throws of 15.60m and 14.39m. Freshman Tyler Lingo placed fourth at 14.00m and sophomore Thomas Ligon was sixth at 13.50m.

Nicasio and Chavez finished second and third, respectively, in the weight throw with throws of 16.56 and 16.53m. Ligon was eighth at 14.05m and Lingo was ninth at 13.50m.

The Red Wolves pole vaulters also had strong showings with sophomore Ethan Sandusky finishing second on the men's side with a jump of 5.20m. In the women's pole vault, senior Stephanie Foreman led the way for the Red Wolves finishing third at 4.15m. Sophomore Courtney Briney was sixth with a jump of 3.20m.

Arkansas State returns to action on Friday at the A-State Invitational hosted at the ASU Convocation Center.
