JPD releases photo of POI in stabbing death near old Indian Mall

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro Police have released a new photo of a person of interest in the stabbing death of 42-year-old Victor Mantel Ramirez Mendez.

JPD is looking for the man who was captured on video at the Country Liquor Store on Highway 1 south on the night of the 23rd. According to Jonesboro Police, Victor Mantel Ramirez Mendez was found stabbed to death on the morning of January 24, with his hands tied together. He was found on Wilkins Avenue near the intersection of Market Place Drive after a caller reported a person lying in the street.

Police say during the investigation, Mendez was last seen with 26-year-old Luis Enrique Alehandro Serano-Cantana.

Serano-Cantana told police he and two other Hispanic males were driving around, drinking and huffing air duster when something went wrong. Serano told police, the two Hispanic males killed Mendez and left him at an unknown location.

Serano-Cantana was then pulled over and arrested on traffic charges near where the body was found. A knife was found in the drivers side floorboard, and appeared to have blood on it.

Serano-Cantana told police he only knows the two suspects as Juan and El Weyo. Police continue to search for the two other Hispanic males in connection with the murder.

Serano-Cantana appeared in court on Monday January 30, and a judge set his bond at $1,000,000. He is set to appear back in court on March 29.
