JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Jonesboro Fire Department is investigating what caused an empty home to catch fire.
According to the Jonesboro Fire Department, a home at 833 Hope Avenue caught fire Tuesday evening. Fire officials received the call at 5:33 pm and were on scene minutes later.
The fire blew out the windows in the back of the house, and collapsed the roof shortly after firefighters arrived. No one lives in the home because it was in the process of being turned into a duplex. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters say they could see heavy smoke coming from the home as they approached. Heavy smoke filled downtown Jonesboro prompting police to advise motorist to use caution while traveling near downtown. Four different engine companies responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
