Auction building and house destroyed by fire in Senath

SENATH, MO (KAIT)-  Fire officials in Senath are investigating the cause of a fire that caused the destruction of an auction building and a house that was connected.

According to Senath Police Chief Omar Karnes, the fire started at the Senath Auction building on Highway C Tuesday at 3 p.m.  The fire spread to a home that was attached to the building. 

Senath Fire Chief Kent Montgomery says it took about an hour to contain the blaze. 

A couple who lived there lost everything, but were not hurt by the blaze.  However, one of the couple's three dogs did die in the fire.

The Senath Fire Department was assisted by Kennett Fire Department.
