FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn says the school is moving part of its fence in to combat negative recruiting.
Van Horn, speaking before the Razorbacks first practice, says the school is moving the right-center field fence in 10 feet to 365 feet. The wind tends to blow in from right field in Baum Stadium, and Van Horn says other schools have made left-handed hitting recruits aware of that.
Arkansas was 40-22 last season and lost in the NCAA regionals to Arizona State. It last reached the College World Series in 2009.
The Razorbacks were last in the Southeastern Conference with a .270 average, but they are ranked No. 4 by Baseball America and are expected to be 1 of the top teams in the SEC this season.
