WHITE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Police say they found the suspect of a burglary hiding in a neighboring house's attic.

According to the White County Sheriff Department, 24-year-old Benjamin Matthew Smith was arrested and charged with theft of property and residential burglary.

During the investigation, police learned a man walked from the home to a residence nearby.

Later that day, Higginson Police made traffic stop on one of the other home's residents. Police say this person tipped police on where Smith was hiding.

Deputies say they found several stolen items from the victim's home before they found Smith's hiding place.

Smith is in the White County Detention Center and is held in lieu of $25,000 bond. He is expected in court March 26.
