FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) – Police say a Forrest city woman left her child alone in the car while she went to eat at McDonald's.

According to the Forrest City Police Department, Jonell Norwood, a 47 year old of Phillips County, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police found a 2-year-old child alone and asleep in a vehicle at the McDonald's parking lot February 1.

Investigating officers report that Norwood was found inside McDonald's eating at a table with others.

When questioned, Norwood told police that she thought it would be alright to leave the child in the car while she ate, say police.

Norwood was taken to the Forrest City Police Department for processing and released to the St. Francis County Jail. She is due in court February 2.

The child is currently with a family member. Police have notified child protective services.
