JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) – Junior guard Adam Sterrenberg scored a career-high 18 points to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a 72-64 Sun Belt Conference victory over Louisiana-Monroe Thursday night at the Convocation Center.

Sterrenberg connected on 4-8 shooting from behind the three-point line, a career-high, and finished the night 5-10 from the field. Sophomore guard Ed Townsel also finished with 18 points with a career-high five three-pointers. Freshman guard Rakeem Dickerson scored a career-high 12 points, , and junior guard Marcus Hooten scored 10 rounding out four Red Wolves scoring in double-digits.

"We need a lift from a guy off the bench and Adam Sterrenberg was that guy tonight. I'm proud of Adam for hanging in as he has hung in. He showed his toughness and his character tonight," said ASU head coach John Brady. "I was proud of our team for what its faced, what it's been through and for it to play as well as it played for the most part. There are some things we could have done better and should have done better, but we made big free throws down the stretch. They made a run at us, cut it to three or four and we fought it back and got the game right."

The Red Wolves (10-14, 4-6 Sun Belt) led 49-30 early in the second half, but the Warhawks went on 17-2 run to close the gap to 51-47 with 7:46 left in the game.  Sterrenberg pushed the lead to 60-50 with back-to-back 3-pointers.
