ARLINGTON, Texas (ASU) — The Arkansas State women's bowling team finished third at the Prairie View A&M Invitational at the International Research and Training Center in Arlington, Texas on Sunday.
The Red Wolves entered the day as the top-seed, but lost to Maryland Eastern Shore in the first round of bracket play. A-State then defeated the University of Nebraska in the third-place match to finish third in the tournament.
"It would have been nice to get the victory but third place is still a good finish in a strong field like this," ASU bowling coach Justin Kostick said. "We just need to hit it hard in practice and keep pushing and the tournament victories will come."
ASU finished the tournament with a 10-3 record and led the total pinfall count after rounds one and two. The Red Wolves now have an overall record of 58-19 on the year and have finished no worse than third in every tournament they have competed in this season.
ASU junior Rachael Gitting finished fourth in the individual standings and was named to the all-tournament team, while sophomore teammate Amanda Labossiere finished fifth and was also an all-tournament team selection.
ASU will return to the lanes Feb. 24-25 in Bessemer, Ala., for the Holiday Classic.
