According to the Craighead County Prosecutor's Office, 30-year-old Brandon Kapales pleaded guilty to arson Monday, and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Police say on February 5, the Jonesboro Police and Fire Department responded to a burglary call at a house located in the 2000 block of Village Drive. When police arrived at the home and noticed smoke coming from the house. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and saved most of the structure, but the fire rekindled again around 1:30 a.m., destroying the home.

Kapales was arrested for the crime 6 days later in Poinsett County.
