Bodies of Missing Family Believed Found

MARCH 2, 2004 - Posted at 7:45 a.m. CDT

YAZOO CITY, MS - The bodies believed to be those of a former southeast Missouri woman, her husband and their young son have been found in Mississippi.  Rebecca and Michael Hargon and their 4-year-old son had been missing since Valentine's Day.

Rebecca Hargon was born and raised in southeast Missouri, and her parents live in Poplar Bluff.  The bodies believed to be theirs were found yesterday in a wooded area, and authorities say a relative has been charged with their murders.

The discovery of the remains and the charges against Ernest Lee Hargon capped an intense three-week search for clues in the case.  Hargon, a 43-year-old truck driver, was arrested on unrelated drug charges Friday, and authorities rushed to the search area in southern Mississippi yesterday morning.

100 miles away in Yazoo County, three capital murder charges were read against Ernest Lee Hargon, who's being held without bond.
