Similarities Found in Killings of Two Women in Crittenden County, Louisiana

MARCH 2,  2004 - Posted at 11:53 a.m. CDT

ARCADIA, LA - Louisiana authorities say a death near the city of Arcadia appears similar to that of a woman at West Memphis, Arkansas.

Bienville Parish Sheriff John Ballance says sheriff's detective Randy Price, who attended a meeting last week in Oklahoma with other law officers from five states, said there's not enough to connect the death of Tracey Lynn Figures with those in the three neighboring states.

But a victim whose semi-nude body was found at a truck stop in West Memphis has striking similarities to Figures' death.  In both cases, the victims suffered blows to the right side of the head, were partially clothed and allegedly were involved in drugs and prostitution.

Ballance says the only break in the case could come if DNA is retrieved from an article of clothing discovered inside the trash bin alongside Figures' body.

The other deaths were in Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi.
