Jonesboro Rotary Club to purchase K-9 for police

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-  The Rotary Club of Jonesboro is helping to fight crime in the city by purchasing and outfitting a new police K-9.

The Rotary Club announced the donation of funds for the new unit Tuesday, according to a news release from the Jonesboro Police Department.

The new crime fighter will be assigned to the department after training and certification with its new handler.  The K-9 unit will be qualified to search for drugs and to help track and apprehend suspects.

Jonesboro Police state this is the second time the Rotary Club has funded the purchase of a K-9 unit.
