WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Police in West Memphis hope to thwart gang members repeated complaints against law officers by requiring the complaints be in written form.
The police say gang members have been trying to manipulate the system by filing the frequent complaints. Police Chief Bob Paudert says his department has been targeting gangs and he says several charges have been filed after complaints turned out to be false. The West Memphis Police Commissioner says requiring people with complaints to put pen to paper will reduce time spent on unfounded accusations.
