SPOKANE, Mo. (AP) - Funeral services have been scheduled for a southwest Missouri prep basketball player who died following a morning practice.
Seventeen-year-old Forrest Varney collapsed during team practice Wednesday morning at Spokane High School. He was pronounced dead at a Springfield hospital.
The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/xJf8mv ) that Varney had a pre-existing heart condition. The Christian County coroner said he died of natural causes.
Services are scheduled Sunday at Spokane High School. Burial will follow at Highlandville Cemetery.
Spokane is located in Christian County, about 25 miles south of Springfield.
