JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- An event dedicated to helping residents understand the dangers of smokeless tobacco took place in Jonesboro.
The "Great American Spit Out" education booth was set up in the center of The Mall at Turtle Creek Thursday afternoon. St. Bernards Medical Center and the Tobacco Free Coalition of Craighead County sponsored the booth.
Coordinators used educational props to show the damage smokeless tobacco and cigarettes can cause. Information on how to quit tobacco use was distributed along with "survival kits" to help those trying to kick the habit.
The "Great American Spit Out" is an annual event, like its counterpart the "Great American Smoke Out".
