Feds seize tons of fireworks in Garland County

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Federal agents have seized thousands of pounds of fireworks from a Garland County business, but the owner says the problem involved paperwork and not how the commercial fireworks were stored.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says the fireworks were for large public displays and were confiscated on Wednesday.

Federal agents would not detail why they took possession of the materials owned by Spa Fireworks. No one was charged with a crime.

The Sentinel-Record reports (http://is.gd/ps407U) the owner of the business is Tom Daniel, who is a Hot Springs city board member.

Daniel says the fireworks were stored in federally-approved bunkers.

Federal agents say they seized 7.5 tons of fireworks, but Daniel says only about half that was in the bunkers.
