JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 residents are welcoming several leap year babies in 2012.

Jacob Michael Bartee and Johnny Echo Terrell were born at St. Bernards in Jonesboro early Wednesday morning. Jacob's mommy, Kimberly Bartee, says Jacobs arrival was a surprise. "This is a week early," Bartee said. "So, we are very surprised and very blessed and we were actually joking about it, but we're happy."

Jacob may be the newest, but he isn't the first. He has both an older brother and sister. "This makes him all the more unique," Bartee said. "So I hope he relishes in that."

After Jacob, Johnny Terrell entered the world. However, Johnny's family says they're no stranger to leap year birthdays. "We're two days over our actual due date," Mother Melissa Terrell said. "So, it just worked out. The doctor had hours today and we said sure we'd love to. And actually my brother is born on leap day too, so this is the second in our family to have a leap day."

Not only is this little man the second in his family to be born on leap day, he's a third generation "Johnny".

Media Relations representative with St. Bernards, Rebecca Rasberry, says a third leap baby was born later on Wednesday. Parents Jaclyn and Justin McGowan welcomed their new daughter, Joelie Anne.
