PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)- A collision that backed up traffic in Paragould Thursday evening results in one person being killed.
The accident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle happened at the intersection of Highway 49 and Barnhill Road around 5p. Paragould Police say the driver of the motorcycle, Kenneth Hampton was killed in the collision. Officers say Hampton was traveling west on Mueller Street and the other driver was heading south on Linwood Drive approaching Barnhill Road.
Witnesses at the scene told police Hampton ran the red light at the intersection. Hampton was taken to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould where he later died. He was wearing a helmet.
Both the vehicle and the motorcycle caught fire and burned after colliding.
The driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, police say.
