Jonesboro Kiwanis flip hundreds of pounds of pancakes

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Jonesboro Kiwanis served more than 400 pounds of pancakes Saturday.

The civic group held its 72nd Annual Pop Stricklin Pancake Day. The fundraising event started around 6 a.m. and was held at the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene this year.

Bill Dunnam, the Kiwanis treasurer, says the group expects to raise about $15,000.

"The proceeds that we earn that come in from the fundraiser go back into the community," Dunnam said, "for foster care programs, for women's shelter programs, for ASU scholarships and other activities, like children's hospitals."

Dunnam added that each Kiwanis member spent about 12 to 13 hours on this event alone, but all the work paid off for the 1,500 expected to have enjoyed the pancakes this weekend.
