WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 residents attending the annual campus-wide garage sale at Williams Baptist College were able to catch a bargain while helping out students on Saturday.
The garage sale had items donated by students, faculty and staff, all to help fund future mission trips. Each item was 75 cents, excluding appliances, electronics and furniture, and the items went quickly.
"We started at 7, but I would say by at least 6:30 people were lined up at the door and when we opened the doors they just flooded in," Director of Campus Ministries at WBC, Josh McCarty told Region 8 News.
All proceeds raised at the garage sale go toward the mission trips that students will take later this year. McCarty said this event helps them spread their message.
"They're important for our students because it gives them a chance to broaden their world view and as a campus, our values are to make God known and make him famous and to share that love with others, so it's very important to our students," he said.
McCarty said all in all the day was very successful.
"We've done really well and so we're excited about getting this money for the students and providing a way for them to go where they want to go," McCarty said.
The students will travel to Memphis, Thailand, Haiti and Peru. The event took place from 7 a.m. to noon.
