DELAPLAINE, AR - Some smaller school districts under a mandate to consolidate are having a tought time finding a merger partner.
Officials at the 300-student Delaplaine School District in rural Greene County say none of the seven nearby districts wants to consolidate with it.
If Delaplaine can't reach a merger agreement on its own, the state Board of Education will place it into another district by June 1.
In Saline County, the Bryant School District has agreed to absorb the 265-student Paron School District.
57 school districts have been ordered to consolidate in Arkansas.
