JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- A community meeting took place Thursday evening at Jonesboro High School to learn about new state education standards.
Parents, educators and other community members discussed the new Common Core State Standards Initiative. The standards are to ensure all students graduate from high school ready for college and careers.
Jonesboro Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kim Wilbanks states, "Our new standards will ask for students to dig a little deeper and have more rigor to them. And we think it will improve the likelihood of success for all of our students."
Dr. Wilbanks also said they've been working with groups from other states to analyze college and career readiness.
