Karisa Hendrix named AMC Softball Pitcher of the Week

St. Louis, Mo. (American Midwest Conference) - Karisa Hendrix of Williams Baptist College and Jessica Hardy of Columbia College claimed the American Midwest Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors for March 12. 

Hendrix is in her junior campaign with the Eagles and had another award winning week on the mound. The Cherokee Village, Ark., native threw a total of 25 innings on the week, posting three wins. Hendrix gave up just four hits and two unearned runs while fanning 29 batters. Karisa's highlight of the week came against No. 25th ranked Oklahoma Christian after throwing a 2-hit shutout, giving up zero walks. 

A freshman catcher from Sedalia, Mo., Jessica Hardy worked her way into a starting role last weekend after a teammate injury and made a big splash at and behind the plate. The Cougars went 2-2 against their competition in the Union University Classic where Hardy hit .417 with a slugging average of .917. Jessica was two-for-three against Midway College with one RBI. Her breakout performance came in a 6-3 win over No. 24 ranked St. Xavier when Hardy had two hits, two runs scored, two homeruns and four RBIs including the game winning three-run shot.
