YELLVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 woman was arrested Thursday after she allegedly altered checks she received from the person she worked as a caregiver for.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, the victim claimed they gave Meyer a check for $20 in January. They say Meyer then took the check to the bank, but not before changing the amount on the check from $20 to $120.

In February, the victim said they gave Meyer a check for $10. Again, they say Meyer changed the amount, this time to $110.

Investigators then interviewed Meyer. She denied allegations of altering the checks in question. However, upon inspection, investigators said it was clearly evident that both checks had been altered and the amounts were changed with a different pen.

Based on that evidence, Investigator Drayton McDaniel issued a warrant for her arrest. Meyer was taken into custody. She was released from the detention center after posting at $10,000 bond.

She's set to appear in court on March 22 on 2 felony charges of forgery in the second degree and 2 misdemeanor charges of theft of property.
