Wind causes fire at vacant house in Kennett

KENNETT, MO (KAIT)-  Fire officials say nature is to blame for a house fire Monday on the north bypass in Kennett.

According to Fire Chief John Mallot, renovations were being made to the vacant house when high winds fanned the fire from a blow torch used to patch the roof.  Workers had left the home when the fire began.

Chief Mallot says employees from a plant across the street noticed smoke coming from the house.  It took the fire department about one hour to put out the flames.

No one was injured in the fire.
