Wind causes fire at vacant house in Kennett

KENNETT, MO (KAIT)-  Fireofficials say nature is to blame for a house fire Monday on the north bypass inKennett.

According to Fire Chief John Mallot, renovations were beingmade to the vacant house when high winds fanned the fire from a blow torch usedto patch the roof.  Workers had left thehome when the fire began.

Chief Mallot says employees from a plant across the streetnoticed smoke coming from the house.  Ittook the fire department about one hour to put out the flames.

No one was injured in the fire.
