Nettleton alum Brenden Camp named TranSouth Co-Pitcher of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. (TranSouth) - Kirkland Wheeler of Freed-Hardeman University has been selected as the TranSouth Conference Baseball Player of the Week. Brenden Camp of Lyon (Ark.) College and Gary Ward of Bethel University have been selected as Co-Pitchers of the Week. These awards are for the week ending March 18, 2012. This is also the first such honor for each of these players this season.
Camp, a 6-foot-2 sophomore from Jonesboro, Ark., tossed a no-hitter in a non-conference game versus NCAA DII Henderson State (Ark.). The righty recorded five strikeouts in the seven inning game and had a perfect game through 6.2 innings before walking his only batter of the game. This was the sixth no-hitter in Lyon program history and the first since 2008. In his second start on the week, Camp allowed two earned runs in a loss to Trevecca Nazarene. Lyon is 21-13 on the season and 3-6 in the TranSouth.
