Ethics Commission Dismisses Complaint Against Huckabee

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state Ethics Commission has dismissed a complaint that Governor Huckabee didn't disclose and improperly used inaugural contributions.

The panel stated insufficient evidence and voted 5-0 yesterday to throw out the complaint against Huckabee.  The complaint was filed in December by Max Brantley of Little Rock, who is editor of the Arkansas Times weekly newspaper.

Huckabee spokesman Rex Nelson said Huckabee is pleased with the commission vote, "but not surprised since we considered this complaint to be frivolous from the start."

Nelson said the governor wants the laws to be changed so there are consequences for those who knowingly file frivolous complaints.

But Brantley said his complaint was not frivolous and was filed after careful consideration after weeks of trying to contact Huckabee's office.
