Arrest made after fire guts Kennett home

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) – The Kennett Police and Fire Departments are investigating another fire as arson in the city limits.

According to the Kennett Fire Department, a house fire was called in around 4:45p Tuesday afternoon at 1415 Ballard Street.

Fire investigators say the home is a total loss due to extreme smoke, heat, and fire damage. The fire department says there were smoke detectors inside the home, but the batteries had been taken out.

A resident of the home has been placed under arrest on charges related to the fire, and is currently in the Dunklin County Detention Center.

The investigation into the fire remains ongoing. No word on if this case is related to the other open arson investigations within the city.
