Region 8 students attend job fair at St. Bernards

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Arkansas Department of Career Education held a job fair at St. Bernards Auditorium Wednesday.

Students from schools all over Region 8 filed into the auditorium to get one-on-one information from representative from a variety of businesses.

Westside Senior Trent Nanney said he thinks these events are a great idea for students.

"You learn a lot coming to these things. I've been to every one this year and I learned a lot. How to prepare for life," Nanney said.

Dr. Bill Walker, Director of the Arkansas Department of Career Education said this expo was very helpful for students.

"Young people who are going into the employment market and tune up their skill sets," Walker said. "Help them to define their direction and their decision. And then we ask them to go into the job fair to compete and apply themselves for potential job opportunities," Walker told Region 8 News.

Around 500 people attended the Expo. It lasted from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
