OXFORD, MS (3/31/12) – The Arkansas State track & field teams continued their outdoor slate at the Ole Miss Invitational Saturday. The Red Wolves posted 18 top 10 finishes during the competition.
Joey Meyer was second in the men's 400 meter run with a time of 47.01 while also finishing seventh in the 200 meter run with a time of 21.37.
Chelsea Weaver was third in the women's 3,000 meter steeple chase with a time of 11:19.17. Weaver also posted a top 10 finish in the women's 5,000 placing ninth with a time of 18:13.52.
ASU placed four throwers in the top 10 of the men's discus led by Chris Nicasio in third place at 49.49m, Corwin Pace was fifth at 49.21m, Tyler Linger was seventh at 47.85m and Richard Chavez was eighth at 47.04m.
Chavez finished third in the men's shot put at 16.67m while Pace was eighth at 15.67m. Thomas Ligon was eighth in the men's javelin with a throw of 52.28m.
In the women's discus, Julia Agawu finished fourth at 46.06m, while Rachel Taylor was 13th at39.16m. Agawu was 13th in the women's shot put at 13.03m, while Kim Ludick was 12th at 13.11m and Taylor was 15th at 12.77m.
Ludick was fifth in the women's javelin with a throw of 39.64m. Solomon Williams finished sixth in the men's long jump reaching 6.89m.
ASU had three solid finished including two top 10 finishes in the men's pole vault led by Ethan Sandusky in third at 5.20m. Shane Heathcock was ninth at 4.55m and William Oliver was 14th at 4.40m. Oliver also finished 11th in the high jump at 1.90m.
Allyson Perry finished ninth in the women's 400m hurdles at 1:05.41 while Kelsey Bean was 13th at 1:06.30.
LaKeitha Minter and Savannah Hutchinson tied for ninth in the women's high jump each reaching 1.60m.
Arkansas State returns to action on April 7 at the Joey Haines Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
