Neighbors: Toddler struck by pizza delivery vehicle

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - Trumann Police officers were called to 512 Mildred Avenue Wednesday evening after receiving reports of a child being hit by a car.

According to neighbors, a pizza delivery vehicle had just dropped off a pizza and was driving down Mildred Ave. when the 2 year old wandered out in the road and was hit.

Neighbor Marilyn Mitchell said there is a sign on the road that prompts people to slow down but more needs to be done.

"I think it's going to take more than a sign right here at this point. I think you could ask anyone on this road and they'd say 'Take that sign and put a speed bump," Mitchell said.

The sign reads: "Please drive slowly, we love our children". Mitchell told Region 8 News that her neighborhood isn't the only one that has a lot of kids playing outside.

"Anyone that's driven down Speedway more than once knows there's a lot of kids down all these roads." Mitchell said.

Neighbors told us that the boy was flown to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis with a severe foot injury.

We will continue to track this story and bring you any updates as they become available.
