Lightning Believed Responsible for Tuckerman School Fire

TUCKERMAN, AR - Fire investigators say lightning was the likley cause of a fire that burned part of the elementary school at Tuckerman, in Jackson County.  Five classrooms, part of the library and other facilities burned in the overnight hours of Monday morning.

Classes remain canceled in the entire Tuckerman district while the damage is being assessed.  Superintendent Chester Shannon told K8 News this afternoon that classes will not resume until next week, as crews work to get utilities restored to the facilities.  Shannon said school officials are hopeful that classes will be able to resume on Monday.
