Panel To Ask Attorney General Which School Buildings to Assess

MARCH 24, 2004 - Posted at 7:52 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The legislative committee overseeing a $10 million assessment of public school facilities wants some guidance on how broad the study should be.

The panel voted yesterday to ask for an attorney general's opinion on whether to add Arkansas' residential high school for math and science to the list.  The committee also wants to know whether it should add correctional schools under state authority to the list of facilities to be inspected.

The facilities study is part of the Legislature's response to a state Supreme Court order to overhaul Arkansas' unconstitutional public education system.
