CROSSETT (AGFC) – Nearly 25 years after its conception, the Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge visitor center has closed its doors for remodeling. The visitor center promotes the natural landscape found on Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge.
Many core components of the building have reached the end of their useful life and are less than efficient for a working environment. Remodeling plans include a new roof, energy efficient siding with insulation, new windows, bathroom remodel, more efficient lighting and a facelift to the interior walls. Work began this week and is expected to be complete in late July.
In the interim, the visitor center staff will conduct business in an office space located at the maintenance shop facility.
Office hours will remain 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of all federal holidays. The main telephone number for the center is 870-364-3167.
