Trot for Tots helps out sick children in Arkansas

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – More than 80 people walked or ran Saturday to benefit the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The Arkansas State University Student Nurses Association organized the very first Trot for Tots 5K this weekend.

Participants paid a fee to run or walk around a course at Craighead Forest Park, with all proceeds going to the hospital.

Organizer Holly Bell says the community's support has helped make the event a success.

"Jonesboro has done such a great job at donating so much stuff," Bell said. "Between the drinks and the food and all the things for raffle, large items, they've done a really good job of supporting us."

Awards were handed out to the fastest in different age groups. People could also purchase raffle tickets to win various items donated by businesses in the community.
