UNDATED (KAIT) – The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a statement saying that a total of 100 people from 19 states have been infected with a strain of Salmonella Bareilly.
CDC one person has fallen ill in Arkansas and one has fallen ill in Missouri. The known number of those infected in other states are as follows:
Alabama (2), Connecticut (5), District of Columbia (2), Georgia (4), Illinois (9), Louisiana (2), Maryland (10), Massachusetts (4), Mississippi (1), New Jersey (7), New York (23), North Carolina (2), Pennsylvania (3), Rhode Island (4), South Carolina (3), Texas (3), Virginia (5), and Wisconsin (9).
Only 10 of the 19 have been hospitalized, and none have died, according to CDC.
While the investigation has not identified a food source to blame for the outbreak, the CDC and FDA are working together to find answer and will release updates as soon as they are available.
