MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) - A Baxter County man has been arrested and charged with a felony offense after failing to register as a sex offender.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, the department learned that Gerald Leroy Stow, 59, was living in rural Mountain Home after being informed by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Golden, Colorado.

Colorado authorities informed the Baxter County Sheriff's office that Stow registered as a sex offender in Colorado after being convicted of aggravated incest on June 26, 1989. That conviction required Stow to register for the rest of his life as a sex offender.

Montgomery says Stow informed Colorado authorities that he was moving out of state, but did not indicate where he would be living.

After the Baxter County Sheriff's Office learned he was living in the county, they issued a warrant for his arrest.

Stow turned himself into the Baxter County Detention Center Monday afternoon.

His bond was set at $15,000. He is set to appear in Circuit Court on April 26th.
