Blytheville Native Launches U.S. Senate Bid

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A retired actress who once starred in Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials with Colonel Sanders has filed for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Sixty-six year-old Rosemarie Clampitt of Hot Springs says she decided to run because the other Republican candidates, state senator Jim Holt of Springdale and former Benton County Sheriff Andy Lee, are not addressing issues like illegal aliens and same-sex marriages.

Clampitt, who is originally from Blytheville, says she supports President Bush's war on terrorism but would bring American troops in Iraq home to guard the nation's borders and to help in finding and deporting illegal aliens.

She says she disagrees with Bush's proposal to grant temporary legal status for millions of illegal immigrants working in the U.S.
