LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - Gov. Mike Beebe says state Surgeon General Joe Thompson apologized to him and that he will not discipline the high-ranking medical officer accused of three misdemeanors.

Beebe says he determined Thompson's job to be safe after reviewing audio files of a March 31 altercation with police. The governor says he also met with Thompson after the arrest.
Police were called to Thompson's home by a private security guard patrolling the neighborhood. Police say Thompson was combative and arrested him on suspicion of disorderly conduct, refusal to submit to arrest and attempting to influence a public servant. A judge has set a May 30 trial date.
Thompson's lawyer says he hasn't ruled out filing a complaint against the Little Rock Police Department because of the arrest.
