PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – Volunteers pitched in and did a little spring cleaning Saturday at Crowley's Ridge State Park in Paragould.
The park welcomed a number of volunteers, including a local Boy Scout troop, who spent a few hours picking up litter as part of the Great American Cleanup.
Heather Runyan, the park interpreter, says seeing what it takes to keep the park litter-free is a valuable lesson for some of the youngest volunteers.
"Most of the people who are throwing the litter out are the adults," Runyan said, "so it's very interesting to see that our kids are picking up after the adults who are coming out to the park. It's also really encouraging because that gives me a little more hope for later on."
The cleanup was sponsored by the Pepsi Bottling Company in Jonesboro and Domino's Pizza in Paragould. The park plans to host its next cleanup event in the fall.
