Cell phone helps save man in river

WEST ALTON, Mo. (AP) - A man is hospitalized for hypothermia after being rescued from the Mississippi River near St. Louis, and he has his cell phone to thank for the rescue.
KSDK-TV (http://on.ksdk.com/I06wLu ) reports that the man was boating Sunday near West Alton when he got caught in the wake of a boat or a barge. The wave flipped his boat and the man fell into the chilly water.
The man was clinging to his boat as he used his cell phone to call 911. Rescue crews were able to pull him from the water and take him to a hospital.
His name and condition were not immediately known.
