Construction for “Guitar Walk” in Walnut Ridge begins

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) – On a highway inspired by rock and roll legends, construction for a new attraction has started in Lawrence County.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday for the new "Guitar Walk" in Walnut Ridge.  The 100 foot long by 40 foot wide guitar will pay tribute to rockabilly legends.  It is being built in Cavenaugh Park.

Tourism committee member Charles Snapp says, "These people that come in to visit us need to know we have a rich history, a rich musical heritage and we want to share that with them."

Those visiting will be able to walk up to silhouettes, push a button and then listen to a recording about the rock star they chose.  Fellow rockabilly legend Sonny Burgess is the voice of those recordings.

City officials expect the attraction to be completed by September.
