JONESBORO, Ark (AStateRedWolves.com) – Arkansas State sophomore sprinter Sharika Nelvis earned her second-straight Sun Belt Conference Athlete of the Week honor announced theleague office Wednesday. Nelvis has earned a total of four Sun Belt Athlete of the Week honors this year.
Nelvis continued her streak of record-breaking performances by breaking the Arkansas State record in the 200m run this past weekend at the Vandy Invitational finishing second in the event in a time of 23.35. Her time in the 200 is currently ranked 10th in the NCAA West Division Rankings.
Overall, Nelvis is also ranked 10th in the 100 meter dash and 11th in the 110 hurdles. Her times in both events, which were set last weekend at the Mississippi Open are also Arkansas State records.
ASU hosts the Red Wolf Open this weekend at the ASU Track Complex.
