Region 8 Community Seeks Grant to Buy Warning Sirens

APRIL 13, 2004 - Posted at 6:09 p.m. CDT

MADISON, AR - The city council of the Saint Francis County town of Madison wants to get some weather-warning sirens.  The council has approved an application for a $15,000 federal grant to purchase the sirens.

Mayor James Brooks said that, if obtained, the money would be used to pay for two telephone or radio-operated sirens...one for city hall and the other on the far side of town.  He said the two sirens would be all that is needed to cover the city.
