Hardy city worker rescued after falling into Spring River

HARDY, AR (KAIT) – A Hardy city worker was injured afterfalling into the Spring River Friday.

According to Hardy Police Chief Ernie Rose, a 60-year-oldcity worker was weed-eating along the riverbank in Loberg Park when the bankcollapsed into the Spring River.

The worker hit his head on a tree and then fell into theriver, but was able to hold onto a limb. The worker was able to reach his cellphone and call for help. The worker spent around 20 minutes in the water beforebeing rescued.

He was taken by ambulance to The White River Medical Centerin Batesville, where his condition is unknown at this time.

Chief Rose said the bank had been undercut by flooding, andit was unknown at the time to be in that condition.
