Entergy Holds Drill, Simulates Major Region 8 Power Outage

APRIL 15, 2004 - Posted at 12:02 p.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Entergy Arkansas employees are taking part in a drill that simulates a massive power outage.

In the scenario being acted out today, Entergy employees are responding to damage that would occur if a large tornado would hit northeast Arkansas.

Under the plan, 1,000 employees are alerted.  That would put into action tree trimmers, line workers, managers and support personnel.

In the days ahead, Entergy officials will assess the strengths and weaknesses of the response system.
